How it starts
Descartes wanted knowledge as solid as mathematics, so he tried doubting everything (his senses, the world, even his own body) to see what could survive. Perhaps a deceiver fooled him at every turn. Yet one thing held firm: to be deceived, he must exist to be deceived. In the very act of thinking, he found his first certainty.
